Membership Benefits
The Council on Employee Benefits represents a cross-section of companies from a standpoint of both industry and geographical coverage. The member corporations represent over fifteen million domestic and international employees. Our member companies have total defined benefit and defined contribution assets of over a trillion dollars.
Conference
CEB sponsors an annual conference in the Spring for the benefit of members. These meetings are built around key topics in the employee benefits area. The speakers and workshop session facilitators are experts who practice in the field. A survey of members is conducted each Fall to determine the key issues for discussion at the next Spring session. The Conference Planning Committee, designated by the Board of Trustees, is responsible for selecting a group of workshop topics centered around a conference theme, based on the common interests of our members. Leaders in the field are invited for delivery of the general session speeches at the two and one-half day conference. The workshops, which follow the general session, are led by member company delegates. These workshops are planned for small groups in order to encourage the exchange of information on the latest developments in the field.
The Spring Conference is for CEB members only and affords a great opportunity to exchange ideas in an interactive workshop format. As the benefits field expands and changes its methods of communication and delivery of services, the topics selected are more globally focused, and include substantive benefits content, as well as issues of implementation, administration and communication. Emphasis is placed on the sharing of experiences in the workplace with the goal of improving a member's value to the organization, as well as his/her professional development in the field. All presentation materials as well as summaries of the workshops are posted on the CEB website within a few weeks following the annual meeting.
Information Exchange Services
Through the information services offered to CEB member companies, we provide opportunities to exchange ideas, information and statistics to improve the design, financing and administration of the full range of corporate benefits programs. These services include several forums, in addition to our annual Spring conference, in which information is shared among member companies, most of which are Fortune-listed organizations.
Member-driven surveys consist of questions on any benefits, HR or compensation issue of interest to the member initiating the survey. The surveys are distributed to all member company delegates through e-mail. Response rates over 50 percent within three days are typical. Summary results of each survey are posted in the Surveys section of our website, available to members only. These summary results are available to assist members in making program-related decisions within their companies.
Another forum for information exchange is facilitated through our online Directory, also available only to members. The member Directory enables easy member access to peers via phone, fax or e-mail. Members use this forum to request information and/or support related to a benefits issue or problem. Members are responsive and willing to assist fellow delegates, sharing with benchmark companies their ideas and learning experiences on a wide variety of benefits topics. The Directory is also used to contact smaller groups of members for information on an industry or geographical basis.
